When it comes to the world of Small Press titles in the comic book industry, you might think its a small selection of titles, but you couldn't be more wrong. As all over the world there is a variety of Small Press titles for folks to read that range from pretty much every genre you can think of. Essentially promising that there is something for everyone. Some titles even touch on topics that can either be disturbing or a bit out there as well. Creator's Edge Press is a perfect example of having titles range from disturbing to out there and then to outright awesome. There is so many choices out there that one could easily read a year or two worth of content and not even make a return to Marvel or DC.
Especially if you happen to include companies such as BOOM! Studios, IDW, Image, Valiant, Aspen, BlueWater, and Dark Horse even if you don't exactly consider them to be a part of the Indepedendent/Small Press world of comics. Not only is there such fantastic writing from Small Press titles, but some fantastic art to boot as well. Stuff that very easily could leave anything Marvel or DC does in the dust.

I believe one could even consider web comics to be a part of the Small Press category and there is a ton of great material out there too in the world of Web Comics, some of which you've seen here on IndieComiX. In the years I've been reviewing, I myself have come to greatly love the world of Independent/Small Press and its a large part of the reason I started IndieComiX, and the fact I found others to share in that passion has been a truly great thing. Now there is quite a lot of content out there from various Publishers and self published folks as I've mentioned previously, so even if you wanted to read everything there is, it would be quite the challenge. A challenge that likely would be pretty darn fun though, and money well worth spent.
Amigo Comics, Inverse Press, Creator's Edge, Hound Comics, Black Mask, Insane Comics, Madius, Alterna, Markosia, Accent UK, Dead Bride Comics, Avery Hill, and 2000 AD are just a few examples out there that your money would be well worth being used for on their titles.
Now it might seem a bit daunting, but reading any of these would be less of a challenge then trying something the Big Two are putting out, especially if you happen to be a first timer to comics or are looking to get back into comics and aren't quite sure of where to start. Not to mention the fact that those in Small Press companies or those that self publish appreciate your interest in their work a lot more then the Big Two do. It may be a big world out there, but the Small Guys are just as big in their own right in all kinds of great ways. Whether its Jesus coming back and going off on people or a girl on her own uniting a team of various alien warriors to take on a huge menace, its all done with a very obvious labor of love. A labor of love you yourself can enjoy when reading it and even sharing it with friends and family.

So take a chance today and go completely Indy, I promise you won't regret it as the future of comic books is the world of Independent/Small Press comics.
