Review: Ahh its been a long while since I last read and reviewed some Shahrazad! And was it worth the time it took me to read the first storyline about this beautiful woman who's lived a long, long time? Yes, yes it was as not only was the ending to the first story arc satisfying but seeing Janus pretty much get what was coming to him was also just as satisfying for me. Though I am curious over what his true final fate was since our leading lady later made a mention of it. Which was a nice tease by Kim and Kari as well. The creative team continued to bring on some beautiful work when it comes to the colors, art, and lettering in this book and I've got no idea if they'll be around for future issues but I certainly hope they will be.
The boat crew of Shahrazad's really grew on me (especially Mr. Jennings as we got to the end) as the guys did what they had to in order to reach their lady Captain no matter what was going on. Which was great to see but also pretty saddening at times as well. The three Sirens also getting involved was a nice touch too as it meant that good ol' Janus was losing control and that was something he was not liking at all! He's an arrogant s.o.b. and I can only imagine how many folks would love to take him down a notch or two after all the crap he's put them through.
I know this is all about Shahrazad, but I am curious to see how Mr. Jennings did as a captain since he wound up growing on me by the end of this storyline. Getting to see our leading lady surrounded by so many objects that have so many memories has to be somewhat maddening with all the reminders they have. But whether or not the writing of her past is to help counter that remains to be seen and I look forward to what part of her past we will see next. So if you skipped past this title for whatever reason, do yourself a favor and go find it and read it!
