Review: Well first off, I can safely say that Razor Bastard is NOT something for youngsters in any form or fashion. Paul has been hard at work for months now on this and while I've seen images here and there of this title on his Facebook, none of that prepared me for what I would be fully seeing in this book. And for those of you who might have read One Man at an earlier point, might even recognize this character from that series. And a mention of an encounter Razor had with One Man has me pretty curious to see how that whole thing went down. Razor and Death itself seem to have a sort of odd friendship of some kind if you think about it. Heck the stuff Razor does in this practically makes the guy from Chem 19 I reviewed recently look like a saint! And that's something I didn't even think I would be thinking along the lines of anytime soon. Good going Paul!
As for what Razor tends to wear pretty much through out this whole thing, it honestly has me wondering just HOW he manages to get by with out even really being hassled over it. Is it a vibe he puts off? Or perhaps its just his size that keeps others including cops from bothering him? Something I hope to see Paul explore one of these days.
And despite the sex, bloody scenes, and swearing, Paul also nicely squeezes in a little story quest of sorts for our main guy. Which is a good part of the reason Razor's even there! Although with 'No Pants' (Also known as Monster Meat) as I'm going to call the one he's sent after, is definitely the type who needs to be taken out. Heck I'd give Razor a freaking medal for that alone! Though I found the fight he and 'No Pants' has to be somewhat one sided, it was also to a point slightly disturbing. As Paul seems to take the concept of Interspecies Erotica slightly further in this story. Which explains the little piggies that kept popping up with 'No Pants'. Though I don't even want to think how that sort of thing even could have happened. Once you've read that particular scene in this story you'll get what I mean. And even likely be exclaiming 'What the heck is wrong with the writer!? What could possibly make him want to even include something like that!?' once all is said and done.
As you can also tell, everything for this book was done by Paul himself. Though I do think an editor could have been used for this as there was quite a few grammar errors through out this book, though I imagine it would take an editor with a strong stomach and a lack of offensive thinking to make it through the editorial process. But if grammar errors don't bother you, then you're in a good place! If it does bother you, well you can hopefully look past it. But when and if you think about it, Paul is simply having himself some fun doing this and possibly doesn't even expect for this to become a mega bestseller (Though it'd be pretty wild if that happened). The art style by Paul Johnson is something that I find unique in its own right and is once again shown real well here. So if you've come to like his style, you'll be more than happy with that. The color schemes even go really well with it too. So while this is pretty much something that is raunchy, disgusting, and pretty much perfect material for a snuff film, its still a fairly decent read. One I think LSP's own SCUM would love and likely want to endorse.
Though I am pretty darn freaking curious as to who the ghost is that Razor seems to have hanging (haunting?) around him. I'm also rather curious if an unfortunate kidnapped girl that 'No Pants' has with him is saved by Razor. Or if he does something that might be considered a mery considering what she likely went through cause of 'No Pants'. I know I would probably take that path cause the therapy alone wouldn't be enough. And folks, don't let even let your gradmother read this. She'll likely want to slap you in the head for it after she's done!
