Letterer: Marshall Dillon
Reviewer: Rob Wrecks
Summary: When explosions on the moon rock the surface of the earth, humans are all but wiped out-allowing monsters of legend to rise and take control of civilization. Vampires, with their polluted cities and human factory-farming, have thus far come out on top-but if the werewolves have anything to say about it, the vampires' reign won't last for long...
Review: For centuries humanity ruled the Earth until they went to the Moon and in true fashion screwed up badly sometime later. Which left the Moon feeling rather blue after all the damage it had done to it. Darn humans! And considering one of the species that exists in this book, I have to wonder how that's affected them as well when it comes to their transformations. I like that Kim and Niles kept the origin story to a minimum in this first issue and focused primarily on the present day after showing us what happened in the past to bring us to now with Vampires and the like no longer hiding and humanity living in fear of them. What the Vampires are doing in this world to the humans makes me think quite a bit of what the blood suckers were doing in the Blade films, only these guys are blocking out the Sun.
Which is no bueno! I'm curious if there is beef between the Vampires and the Werewolves, and with the state of things right now I wouldn't be surprised if there was. Although I wonder if the humans would be more willing to side with the Wolves?
I love how this book only has a certain amount of colors going for it, giving a certain kind of vibe to the art and it makes me hope that Nat Jones will be continuing to provide both duties until this book's 4th and final issue.
And while Baxter may be an old man, he still manages to kick ass! Which is quite probably one of the best moments of this first issue. Kim and Niles have captured my interest with this book and I can't wait to see what happens next! Especially with the ending we get here! And I hope you good folks will be along for the ride as well!
Editor's note: Does this seem like a title right for you? Then head here to find out how to grab up your very own copy!
