An International Comics Festival in the Heart of the Midlands
Edgbaston Stadium, home to the Warwickshire County Cricket Club since 1882, and the second largest venue of its kind in the UK, is to play host to the City of Birmingham’s inaugural Comics Festival on Saturday April 18th 2015.
Taking place within the ground’s exhibition hall, with the capacity to cater to over 2,000 visitors, the event promises to encompass an international spectrum of the comics book world with special guests and publishers from across the breadth of Europe, the United States of America, and Great Britain itself; some rarely witnessed at conventions before and others that will be making their UK debut.
With over 100 exhibitors being scheduled to attend the diverse range of publications, rare books, original art, plus the latest titles hot of the press alongside convention exclusives will ensure that collectors and fans of all ages will find something to put a smile on all their faces.
And there will be a whole lot more to do besides, based on comprehensive surveys undertaken to find out exactly what the public wants plus some extra special surprises thrown in for good measure! Events thatcan be revealed so far include a range of panel discussions including interviews with star guests and creators, professional critiques from publishers and editors, through to competitions and activities for all – with cosplayers expected in full regalia and an all-important inclusivity guaranteed to make sure kids aren’t left out of on having any of the fun!
The Birmingham Comics Festival will be a day not to be missed and wherever you’re coming from youwon’t need to worry about parking as the venue has a huge car park, catering for over 600 vehicles – More importantly parking will be FREE to those attending the event (Subject to availability) And if you forget those sandwiches and bottles of water, fear not, because the cafeteria within the venue will have both hot and cold food and drinks on sale all day. The disabled friendly facility has washrooms and there is seating upstairs for you to chill and relax during your visit.
