Summary: Read the book that the Westboro Baptist Church claims will 'Split Hell wide open!'
Toe Tag Riot continues their hilarious and bloody trek through the country's heartland on their way to the big showdown with the Westboro Baptist Church. Will a chance encounter with a party bus full of gross dudebros derail our punk rock heroes' quest? Guest starring Fall Out Boy's own Andy Hurley!
Review: I’m still loving this book, as its totally irreverent and totally tongue in cheek humor of the most basest kind within this book that still delights everyone! This issue starts off where we left off last issue with Andy and Leigh hurt really bad after the fight. And it looks like they might die until a desperate attempt is made to save their lives. It’s actually pretty smart and while I kinda wanted to see what would’ve happened had Dickie just bit him, well this way is more fun and keeps Fall Out Boy still together.
I love Sean’s take on this too, okay the green zombie part makes me scratch my head but what the heck, let’s go with it. When Andy and Leigh turn and we see them as zombies I was pretty impressed because Andy looked kind of hot actually. I love that all this is just over the top crazy fun and nothing being taken too, too seriously.
So the plan is still the same; head back to Kansas, find the woman who put this whammy on them, and along the way they are totally going to pay a very special Baptist Church a visit. Thank you guys by the way for including those maniacs in this story and showcasing what sane normal people think of their antics in the name of a religion that never taught fear, hatred, and bigotry to begin with. So whatever happens next I’m going to be right here to enjoy the show.
I do enjoy seeing the whole then and now stuff, and seeing how they’ve gotten used to having this zombie side effect that heals them. Oh yes, and the whole scene where we finally see how Evie lost her arm? Yeah that was the shit, excuse my french. I laughed out loud, I mean seriously I was close to cracking up at all that. Which is just how much fun it all is!
Leigh needs to stop at a rest stop and pee, well after all that and your first change into and back from a zombie who wouldn't? What happens at the rest stop? Well it keeps me thinking that someone has spent a fair amount of time traveling and stopping at them! Though not the tea room trade I was hoping for, it’s a comedy of errors and Dickie’s behavior just keeps things moving along because he just can’t help himself. If he would think before he acted things would be different but he’s incapable of that and to be honest I prefer him this way!
Everything that happens at that rest stop is pretty much why I love this book. You can’t get away with most of this at larger companies with all the rules they follow and this is another example why I love companies like Black Mask. So if you want a fantastic laugh riot of a good time, read this book!
