The Aceblade
Everyone has their own taste in heroes. If that weren’t true, well, wouldn’t the comic Universe be boring.
Let me tell you some of my favorites. Moon Knight, Spider-Man, Batman, The Punisher.
Generally it’s the guts not the super powers that get the job done.
In lieu of having crazy super powers to imagine up that bedazzle me, well what next?
It’s really hard for me to find characters that appeal to me.
Danny Quick is a great guy. I have spoken to Danny many times over the last year while he’s been working on writing this book.
Chris Hollars (creator of Aceblade) handed this project to Danny and I fell in love with Aceblade right away.
Everything about the character.
Purple. Dig up the colour Purple. It in itself has a purpose. Legend says it is one of the last colours found. Legend colour. And a sword.
A story that for now is under tight wraps.
Danny’s sample piece with the Deadpool lends me to believe I will be more than just casually interested and well entertained.
We personally wish the Aceblade all the success he deserves.

The art is a strong hint of how serious this project it is. These are some of the very best artists in the business teamed up to make The Aceblade happen.
To a person some of the best in the business.
Switt, Ariel Akris, Eugene Commodore, Jason Strutz, Michael Lee Harris. Brian Reber, Jimbo Salgado, Babisu Kourtis, Tony Kordos
The incentives being offered by The Aceblade are plentiful and amazing.
If you can get your hands on some of the original artwork pieces being offered , count me among the jealous.
The Novel and comic books. Danny has worked tirelessly for months and months, over a year , to bring what I am sure will be an amazing book.
From the talent he has assembled , this is not a hack job. He’s got the best involved with this and they simply would not be there if this project was anything but the best.
For a mere dollar you can get an email from The Aceblade himself.
For six dollars you can get a digital copy of the book or a comic, your choice. The Aceblade has made himself quite available.
For the ones who want more, commissions galore from the artists mentioned above.
Amazing artists. Autographs.
You can even get a thank you mention in the credits depending on how far you want to take it.
Certainly rewards in the truest meaning of the word.

My interview with Danny Quick, writer on The Aceblade.
1. Danny, I have to know, what was your first favorite superhero & how old were you?
I don't know if superhero is what I would call them, but my earliest memories are playing outside as Donatello or Michelangelo. Ninja Turtles dominated my 6-7 year old imagination and then came Spiderman, and Dragonball Z. I loved anything that was weird …. and wanted to save the planet.
2. How long have you been writing?
Not long... and that's what scares me the most. I've only been writing since 2009 when I came back from Iraq. During most of my free time overseas I was developing and creating new characters and stories, but I didn't start writing seriously until I got back home to my wife and kids.
3. When did you decide you wanted to try your hand at comics?
Around Christmas 2007 I believe. I was talking with one of my coworkers about wishing I'd created Batman; and Chris Hollars (creator of Aceblade) told me that he had copyrights on a character that he'd created, but hadn't really developed him much. He told me what he had so far and gave me permission to try to write the rest of the story. I wish I'd written down the exact date, because I got hooked that night.
4. Which comic writers and characters have the most impact on you in todays market?
I've been keeping my eyes on a lot of indie writers and characters lately. John Pross' POSERS is going to be really good. I like Lee Jiles and the Godsend team; which has some really interesting ideas. I’m also waiting to see FATSA: Lord of the Dragons from Mercenary Art Studios. Other than those, I’ve been trying to keep up with the Batman INC, anything Frank Miller has written (That guy is AMAZING!), and of course… Naruto Manga.
5. Some of us enjoy a pared down trim character, void of bejazzling super powers, a human rather than super human. One who needs to rely on their wit, will & skill to triumph over adversaries. Is this what we have in The Aceblade?
Yes. Terrell Durham is a man who wants to help the people that desperately need help in his City. In his eyes, Vegas City’s greed and cruelty has destroyed too many lives, and it must be dealt with. He does not have limitless money and resources, or endless chakra from a demon fox, but he uses his skills and the connections that he’s made over the years to do his best to expose the corruption and crime in Vegas City, while breaking down bad guys with his bare hands. (Sorry, got a little caught up there) I really just hope that people enjoy our stories and can take something from them that they can apply to their own lives.
6. I’ll be straight. I know you’re a Carolina Panthers fan, being a Football fan myself, I knew right away, it’s the love of the game for you. You love this. You’re going to soldier on no matter what. What can you tell me about what gives you your greatest strength to carry on in the face of all adversity.
Yeah… Us Panther fan’s have to love the game. I think Cam, Keuchly, and the boys can go all the way this season though! There have been many times when I wanted to give up on this project. I know that I may never be a Stan Lee, or Frank Miller, but I really just want to share these stories that we’ve created, and I believe in our product. I honestly would give our books and comics away for free, just to share with the world. I think that’s the reason I keep pushing. I believe that I have to use my God given talents to help make this world a better place. Much like Aceblade, I believe that I have been given an opportunity to use what I have to help people, and as long as I’m doing that, I can be content. Even if only ten people find enjoyment for 20 minutes at a time when reading our stories, I feel like we would have done our part.
7. You have assembled one of the finest teams of artists, some of the most original looking work I’ve seen in ages. One of my favorite things about The Aceblade is he is not a cluttered character, and I look forward to reading his adventures. How hard was it to get all these fantastic artists on board? Who was first? Who’s actually going to be penciling the pages or do you know yet. Don’t feel obliged to give up to much here.
Thanks Wes! I really appreciate that. I’ve been searching Facebook and DeviantArt.com for artists that I personally liked. I really have no idea what I’m looking for, but sometimes when you see something, you just know that you like it. I begged lots of artist to get me on commission lists and the same name kept popping up… Jake Mackessy. I found out that a lot of the artists that I like all work for Mercenary Art Studios. I contacted the Jake, the owner, about doing some Aceblade commissions and sketches, and he came through magnificently. I already have a great penciler, Vhon Remot, for Vegas Vigilante #1 and I would like to keep him around for a while. I want to work with Jake and his artists. I’ve gotten commissions form a lot of his crew. Drawing and colors form Babisu Kourtis, Inks from Tony Kordos, a futuristic design from Christian Santos, and even an an amazing pinup from one of his new artists, Jason Saldejeno. Most of them I have offered up as rewards on our Kickstarter.com page. I’d hate to see them go, but it will be worth it to be able to get Aceblade’s story told.
Finally Danny thanks for your time. From the minute I saw The Aceblade I had a feeling about this character. He takes me back to the Silver Wolf days out of Sacramento in the 80’s where a character called Grips, just blew the eyeballs right out of my sockets. This for me seems to be a return to those times. Creative freedom. The new format for getting indy comics out there seems to be working. Thanks for your time Danny and good luck with your project.
Thanks Wes! You are a scholar and a gentleman!
