Review: Holy sound effects has it been awhile since I laid my eyes across some Private Dick! After having read the 2nd and 3rd issues just recently I am seriously wishing I hadn't taken as long as I wound up doing to read them. As not only does this continue Happyman's journey, but it puts him in another situation that should be completely serious, but you just can't help but laugh til it hurts from all the crazy antics going on! Kris and the Dick are seriously proving here that super heroics don't always have to be so gosh darn serious. With all the crazyness going on in this book, it would make one think that it was truly easy for the big bad to take over the world as it did in the future. I like how this is pretty much taking place not long after the events of the first issue, as we get to see Happyman still not being too happy about Voltage (who's also his mentor, though how effective he is remains to be seen) taking the credit on the Knob-Goblin ending. If this was to become a cartoon on Adult Swim, I would watch the heck out of it. As the content here would fit perfectly on there. Hopefully the art that's present would adapt well to animation as well.
I am awfully curious to see if there'll be any consequences to a decision Happyman makes with a drug that appears at one point. Though his initial reaction to it is hilarious and I'm likely sure any consequences the masterminds of this title have in mind will be just as hilarious. I like how the cover is a very obvious nod to the Terminator film, though with as effective as Mainstream is. The Terminator would likely own him. There's just a lot of moments in this book that are seriously great, like two certain thugs for example who are probably about as effective as watered down toilet paper. Yet at the same time are among the very few who have some hilarious commentary between themselves. Though I imagine that once this Shroud guy hears of whats going on he's either going to be wishing he was there to have stopped Happyman or thank his lucky stars he wasn't there.
Danny is another character who's introduced in the second issue who I came to really like. And seriously reminded me of the main bad guy from 3 Ninjas. Which makes me wonder if he actually is a nod towards him. Though with Danny, he's slightly more nuttier than that guy. We are cruelly left with a cliff hanger unfortunately and I can't wait to see what happens next. Though with Voltage's sudden appearance near the end, I'm not too hopeful! But seriously though, if you for some reason haven't read this title you are missing out. After you read this, go find it, buy it, read it, and enjoy! Gauranteed to make you laugh unless for whatever reason comedic antics aren't your thing.
