Graphic Illusions Comics/Crucial Crisis Comix
Story Plot: Timothy G. Reaper and Alan Cole
Script: Alan Cole
Art, Colors, and Lettering: Luis Palacios

Summary: Every new cycle begins with the destruction of the last. For countless millennium, this has been the recognized order of events. And even though there was a struggle amongst Gods for ultimate dominion, there were still rules that needed to be abided. This struggle, these rules...is called The Armageddon.
Yet, this time around, those very rules were ignored. There was the introduction of chaos into what used to be a sound process. And because of this a Sage did something that had never been done before, he interjected himself into the process. And unbeknown to him, because of his actions, Armageddon did not conclude, it was just delayed.
This story shows the consequences of his actions.

Review: First off, I have to say something about the art and colors done by Luis Palacios. This man has likely done some of the most beautiful and amazing art and coloring that I've seen in quite some time. Especially when we see the interaction between Raphael and Lucifer. Beautiful artwork, but also a bit on the heart breaking side due to the fate Lucifer's been given. I can only imagine how a guy like him is going to handle things while living amongst those he has no love for. God I love when comics use Biblical material, as like with various forms of mythology there's quite a lot you can work with if you have the imagination for it. And Timothy and Alan certainly used their imaginations quite well with this! You're probably wondering how is it I've arrived here at this point with the 51st issue of this comic, probably wondering what the heck ya might have missed! Well first, take a deep calming breath and then relax. Because #51 is from my understanding of things more of a starting point while at the same time starting us all at the heart of all sorts of wonderful trouble.
And that the first issue is where things will have all the answers from my understanding of how they are doing this series. Its a pretty neat concept if I might say so myself and I'm honestly looking forward to seeing how it goes. Got to wonder though, does this version of Death not believe in clothes!? Heck I originally thought he was War, what with that giant axe of his! Wonder if his lack of clothing is what helps him reap souls? Things like this are just going to make me wonder awhile on it. And sheesh, between warring factions, people walking around with arrows in their backs, and what looks to be conspiracies, Death really seems to have the most crap to deal with! And he certainly has one heck of a temper! Makes me think the old man who got involved made a bad decision in doing so.
As I said before, the artwork within this book is some of the most beautiful I have seen in some time. And I hope it will be continuing to appear in this title til the very end. Luis Palacios truly has done a wonderful job in all three of his duties in this issue. And if he's done other work, I definitely wouldn't mind tracking it down. His cover on here is especially bad ass! I could easily see this story being used for a Prophecy reboot if that was to happen. As for Cartegena, he's definitely got some growing up to do. As he does seem slightly naïve by believing just cause he has protection that he's protected. Whether or not Abaddon will cure him of that remains to be seen. Though I suspect Cartegena won't like how he'll do that. As for the old man, he's definitely asking the wrong person about having hurt enough people. Come on now! Death is one of the 4 Horsemen! Hurting people is practically part of the job description no matter how much you may or may not like it!
Timothy and Alan manage to end this first issue in at least for me a cruel way with its cliffhanger. As the questions that were asked at the end of this has me all kinds of curious. And I can't wait to see those answers. And as a treat, we get to learn a bit about Pestilence and Famine. The takes for them is certainly awesome and I can't wait to see them in action! So unless you want a naked Death after you, pick this up!
