Review: Last issue we met Adam Stairs and I was intrigued it was great introductory issue for this story and it definitely made me come back for number two. Well Nikki, Adam’s girlfriend, got fed up with him, his lack of ambition, and drive in this new world where jobs are scarce and good people even more rare so she threw him out. Meanwhile he’s been having dreams of life lived a long time ago.
This issue starts off with Adam visiting Nikki’s therapist and I’m sure he’s hoping this will reunite the pair but in all honesty he needs this for himself and needs a woman like her out of his life for good but that’s just me. When the topic of his dreams comes up Dr. Z is suddenly very interested in them, she’s the kind of character you see and think she doesn’t give a damn she’s going through the motions with a mask on, you can tell she doesn’t care much. She’s definitely shifty looking and there’s just something off you can tell I don’t like therapists much eh?
In Glastonbury, England a chopper arrives to find the people dead or in various states of dying. The Doctor in charge has been trying for nearly thirty years to figure out how an artifact works here, she knows the words and has the artifact but she doesn’t posses the power. Vergil however does and he shows up long before help can arrive in the form of Fames and Nex. The Doctor gets her wish and he opens up the place with the artifact/sigil and she gets to finally see what she’s been trying for all this time.
I like that we get another look at the President of the United States, though to be honest she comes off as a joke to me. Plus painting the White House red? Yeah that seems overly silly and would alienate her even more. Oh this “B” needs to go she’s a ranting child, impatient and impetuous without being able to look at the big picture and seeing just her own immediate gratification. Yeah, annoying as all get out and hopefully she’ll get her comeuppance.
With David back in therapy with Dr. Z she’s really focused on his dreams and what he sees, experiences and feels. I knew something shady was up with her and she finally gets to let that mask down and we see her real personality come through. Not a very nice person and her assistant, yeah she’s less so but also in on what she’s doing. However apparently in this world there are plenty of clones and test tube babies.
Oh we see how all the different things happen here to create the story and Gigio has found a great way to keep the story moving forward but at the same time keeping us guessing with how he’s going to do it. With so many factions in play and Adam clueless to it all plus with his natural luck, yeah bad luck that is, getting in the way well I can’t wait to see who gets to him first and how his one friend/co-worker (with a mysterious feather falling off him) and the girl from his dreams also a co-worker play into all this.
This is an original story with a great new perspective of things and it draws you into the story keeps your attention honestly surprises the heck out of you. Highly recommended!

Review: With each chapter of this story that I read I find myself more and more involved with what’s happening and really enjoying myself getting to know these characters and the world they live in. Gigio is crafting a wonderful story that’s unique, different, interesting and above all else easy to get lost in. The thought that Adam has been Adam from the start, see Garden of Eden, through now and he’s being chased by rival sects and at the moment he’s completely clueless makes things interesting.
We start off this issue with a look at Adam and Eve which leads to Adam dream-smooching when he’s supposed to be preparing his company speech in front of the President of the United States. We’ve seen the woman who is now President and we don’t care for her very much and when Adam’s presentation falls apart with faulty equipment well it seems his life couldn’t get any lower than it has at that moment.
Well it’s fun to see Virgil in action the small man might not be large in stature but he surely makes up for that in his quick wits and skills. I like him he’s fun granted he’s also an ancient badass but there’s just something about him that you can’t help but like. I’m pretty darn impressed with the writing here, the characterization continues to be stellar.
Okay so when Adam and his bestie/new roommate go out to this restaurant bar where literally all hell breaks loose. There’s something wonderful about the events that occur in this place as two women, dressed as hookers, hit on Adam then his ex-girlfriend Nikki shows up and finally Virgil, whom he knows as the hungry homeless bum. The dialogue here cannot be beat anywhere it’s perfect, it gets the heart of the matter, showcases personalities and moves the story along in such a way that feels natural. Even the swearing and the decapitation not to mention the revelations and the reactions to things all feel like if you were in that situation you’d behave the exact same way.
The artwork is on the simple side but each issue it gets better and better and you see that the line work gets tighter and more expressive. It’s really nice to see that too because it really does help make this that much more fun to read and the imagination on display when Virgil reverts the two women to the natural forms shows us some really good talent here. Nick is really doing something great in bringing this to life and i’m enjoying watching him grow and evolve with each issue.
This my friends is why we love small independent or self press books. This is a very different look at a man whose living multiple lives and doesn’t even know it and it’s all brought back to biblical times in scope and nature. I can’t wait to see how Adam handles the truth coming at him now that he’s in Virgil’s hands.
